First Thursday Stroll in August: Let’s Get a Little Campy!

Thursday, August 7 | 4 PM – 7 PM | Downtown West Plains

Grab your canteen, lace up your boots, and get ready to stroll into the wild—because this month’s Downtown Stroll is embracing a fun and festive camping theme. And don’t worry, the only thing “campy” about it will be the puns.

On Thursday, August 7, from 4 PM to 7 PM, downtown West Plains will transform into a cozy campground of community spirit and local charm. Participating businesses will extend their hours and offer complimentary snacks, drinks, and engaging activities. Visitors can earn a badge at each participating merchant and fill out a Downtown Passport for a chance to win a prize. It’s a great way to explore, connect, and celebrate the unique character of our downtown.

One of the best ways to show your support for these events is by making purchases at participating businesses. Every sale helps sustain future strolls and contributes to the vitality of our local economy. Whether you're discovering a new shop or revisiting a favorite, your support makes a difference.

In addition to the evening’s festivities, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a special e-bike raffle, courtesy of West Plains Bike Shop. Tickets are $40 each or three for $100, and the drawing will take place during the stroll. All proceeds from the raffle will go toward funding the West Cass Alleyway mural project, a vibrant addition to the downtown landscape. Please note that this raffle is separate from the Downtown Passport drawing.

The August Downtown Stroll is more than just an evening out—it’s a chance to support local businesses, discover hidden gems, and enjoy a sense of community. With badges to collect, prizes to win, and a mural to help bring to life, this event promises to be a memorable summer highlight.
